12 Lead ECG Placement example

This is the technique I use for landmarking for a 12 Lead ECG It’s a little different from a method a lot of people use your middle finger will be in the second intercostal space. a lot of people use the sternal notch, and then they look for the angle of Louis, but there’s a much easier way So all you do. The clavicle rests here. The first rib comes off of the manubrium and then takes a hairpin turn under the clavicle when you palpate the rib just below the clavicle if you place the surface of your index and middle finger and palpate just below the clavicle the rib that you’re going to straddle is the second rib then the 3rd intercostal space then the 4th intercostal space
