Bird Dog Stretch from Back & Neck


Hi. It’s Doctor Ron Nussbaum again, CEO of Back Clinics of Canada. Today we’re going to demonstrate an excellent stretch called the Bird Dog Strech. The
stretch helps to increase muscle strength of the upper back. We’re going to demonstrate this now. You’re going to of course need a yoga mat. You can get that at your neighborhood
sporting goods store. and as usual before you attempt any
stretches please check with your spinal expert. Now you’re gonna attempt to do
this stretch on the floor. We’re going to demonstrate it on our special equipment. So let’s get you on your hands and knees
to start. Now we’re gonna do the bird, the traditional
Bird Dog Stretch which is going to involve the upper body when you’re going to use your
right arm we’re going to actually increase the
strength on the opposite side and vice versa so for now let’s have you
look straight ahead with your head and your right arm, straighten it at the elbow, and point and hold that for a count of five. One, two, three, four, five. Now you should feel that on the other
side keeping your knees at 90 degrees. Now let’s point
with the other arm. Keeping elbow straight, looking straight
ahead, one, two, three, four, and five. Excellent. Let’s have you sit down now. As usual please be very careful not to experience any pain. That is to say if
you find that you feel pain discontinue the stretch at that time. For
