Can Dr. Drew Pinsky Answer Basic Anatomy Questions?

– My Name is Doctor Drew and I’m going to play Can You Anatomy? (lighthearted bass beat) – [Interviewer] Before we begin,
we have a couple questions. – Okay. – [Interviewer] When you
were in grade school, how well did you do in science class? – I did pretty well in sciences
all the way along, yes. – [Interviewer] What was your-
– That doesn’t mean… – That does not mean I’m
going to do well today. – [Interviewer] That’s correct. Did you ever dissect anything in biology? (question marks popping) – Well, I’m a physician so I
did a whole body dissection. Right?
– [Interviewer] Gross anatomy? – Yeah, oh yeah. – [Interviewer] Was that hard? – The thing about gross anatomy, it’s a giant room with
hundreds of bodies in it, and, when you get there, they always have a cheesecloth over the face and the hands, and you work your way from the back down the arm to the hands and it was not very disturbing working on the back. When you took the
cheesecloth off the hands, (gasps) it was a human hand, and that’s where you first get a
little, oh my goodness. And then when you have to do the head and neck, it gets weird. – [Interviewer] When did you
know you wanted to be a doctor? – You know, it was always
assumed I’d be a physician. My dad was a family practitioner, my uncle was a psychiatrist, and
when I went to college I started in pre-med and
then I rejected it all for a couple of years, like that’s not me. Everybody thought I was gonna do it; that’s not my decision. – [Interviewer] Did you, like, become a theater major for a few years? – I did that kind of
stuff, music and theater, all kinds of crazy stuff, and literature. Anything but science for
about a year and a half. And then when I got back to it, I owned it, I loved it,
and it was no looking back. Then it was my decision (laughing), and I felt much better
when I got back to it. It’s been… I can’t even express what an important part of my life it’s been. – [Interviewer] Awesome; all right, are you ready to play? – No. (chuckling) – [Interviewer] Great,
here are your questions. What substance are nails made of? – Keratin. – [Interviewer] Ding, yay. The innermost part of bones contain what? – Bone marrow. – [Interviewer] I mean,
you’re making this look easy. What is the name of the biggest
part of the human brain? – Cerebral cortex. – [Interviewer] Ding, yay! Which system of the body
controls the senses? Circulatory, digestive,
nervous, or skeletal? – Central nervous system. – [Interviewer] Correct; which
organ covers the entire body? – Skin. – [Interviewer] What– – You should say, “Which
is the biggest organ?” Which is skin. – [Interviewer] That’s true. The shape of DNA is known as– – Double helix. – [Interviewer] (Gasps) I mean… All right, fine, since
you nailed all those, what does DNA stand for? – Deoxyribonucleic acid – [Interviewer] Wow, that’s it! All right, I guess you
really are a doctor. – Yeah, how ’bout that, shocking. (laughter) – [Interviewer] Thank you so much. – Yeah, you bet. – [Interviewer] Thank you, that was fun. (deep bass beat)
