Relieve Neck and Upper Back Tension with this EASY Stretch.

Relieve Neck and Upper Back Tension with this EASY Stretch.

Hi, I’m Dr. Neely and what I’d like to demonstrate today is some very good moves some very good stretches to relieve tension in the upper back and particularly on just the inside of the shoulder blade There’s a lot of tension can build up along there and into the top part of the neck or in the shoulder right here From sitting for a prolonged position, a forward head position, will create a lot of tension in this upper back. Stress in general also builds tension in this area, but a lot of times it’s the prolonged posture from sitting at a desk working all day creates a lot of tension in this upper back. The first thing to remember when you’re doing this just watching me is that you’re your chin needs to go straight forward towards your chest as far as you can. When your chest when you’re head is straight forward like that you’ll feel a pull possibly all the way down into your back, but primarily in the top part right here evenly and what you’ll do, just like all the other stretches that I’m instructing you to do is you want to breathe comfortably five or six breaths. That’s superior to counting seconds- so count breaths So your head is all the way forward like this And you’re going to breathe five or six calm breaths -you’ll notice you’ll be able to relax a little bit more and then to get this area to the side here this rib line While your heads forward to keep your chin on your chest and you want to tip to the side on a diagonal as if you’re gonna look toward your armpit. Your head goes forward like this, and it’s going to be on a line like this So the head tips over chin stays down what you don’t want to do is when you’re tipping your head sideways You don’t want your chin to come up. Head forward chin remains On the chest and you’re going to tip on a diagonal to the side, and you’ll feel that hit the side of your neck and if you go a little bit forward with that you’ll feel it more down here and Just move the your head carefully forward Until it hits the area where you’re really tight, and once you find an area that’s tight- Take your five or six breasts and you’ll notice that will ease up and then you can move a slightly different direction And you can find another tight spot So you can go forward to one side to the other side and That will open up and take care of all the tension across the upper part of your back Thank you
