Tight Calf Release Without Stretching with Clear Lake Chiropractor

Hi guys it’s Dr. Venessa from Sea Lark
Chiropractic and today I’m going to show you how to release your calves using a
foam roller or lacrosse ball. I have patients that come in and they have pain
in their Achilles tendon or the bottom of their foot or people that get charley
horses at night. This is very good for loosening up the calves that can
contribute to all those things. You can get tight calves by wearing heavy work
boots, boots or high heels. So if you have any of those problems check your calves
and try this out. So, first you’re just going to get the foam roller and we’re just
going to roll back and forth along the calf. You turn your foot in and out to get the
whole muscle and if you want it to be more intense you just add your leg on
top, it’s a little more pressure, get a little deeper. You can do this for 20-30
seconds and do both sides. To go a little deeper we’re going to use a lacrosse
ball so you can put it under your calf muscle here first we just roll side to
side and work our way up the muscle work all the way inside and outside, find
the tight tender spots. Once we do that we’re going to go back and
find the tender spots you just rest it there, again if you want it to be even
more intense you add your other leg on top. You go here, you can just hold it
there for 20 seconds if you want and see if it’ll just relax or you can do foot
motions. So you can do circles, do five to ten in one direction and then five to
ten in the other direction and then we point in flex five to ten. Then you can move it, find another tight
spot and do the same thing. You can work through your calf so you find all the
tight spots and loosen it up and then of course we’re going to do both sides. So give
that a try for your tight calves, let me know how it
goes for you and if you found this useful
give me a like, comment, share and have a great day!
